Jim Farrell, in his final year as a full-time music educator is excited to also become a consultant with AdvantEdge Tours. During his 34 years of teaching choir and band at the high school and university levels, (most recently 26 years at Littleton High School), Jim’s groups have traveled throughout the United States, from Hawaii to New York City and many destinations in between, as well as internationally to Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Jim’s group traveling experience is diverse, including tours with an 8 voice choir, managing a 45 piece drum corps on month long performances across the US, and leading a 181 person group comprised of choir, band, orchestra and parents through Europe.
Jim brings his expertise and high level of success in the area of choral ensembles and musical theatre to AdvantEdge Tours. From large ensembles to small ensembles using sound systems and rhythm sections, his robust knowledge of what works and doesn’t work is invaluable. While on tour, his ensembles have also participated in musical theatre workshops with current Broadway performers, marched as a choir in combination with the marching band in the Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade, created combined performances with band and orchestra and participated in various festivals. In addition to his choral expertise, Jim is also an expert in the field of marching bands and drill design, so he is able to speak the language of both sides of the performing arts hallway creating a cohesive tour for all involved.
Lastly, you will find that Jim is a stickler for details and makes positive relationships with students, chaperones, tag-along parents and directors a top priority. His calm, encouraging demeanor helps to create a tour experience that directors and students alike, will remember fondly for many years to come.
